1. Analytics

Expat Holland uses Umami for privacy-focused analytics. Our Umami setup does not use analytics cookies. It measures aggregate traffic and selected interactions, including page views, referral sources and affiliate-link clicks.

Affiliate-click events sent to Umami may include the provider name, internal link identifier, page path, outbound path and whether Awin tracking was allowed, declined or not yet chosen at the time of the click. We also measure Allow/Decline choices in aggregate. These events are used to understand which pages and partner links are useful to visitors and whether affiliate attribution is technically available.

2. Preference Storage

We use browser local storage and a first-party preference cookie named expat_cookie_consent to remember whether you allowed or declined Awin affiliate tracking. The cookie is stored for up to one year. Local storage remains on your device until you clear it or change your browser data.

This preference storage does not itself perform advertising or cross-site tracking. It exists so that our affiliate redirects can respect the choice you made.

3. Awin Affiliate Tracking

Some partner links use Awin. If you choose Allow, Awin may use affiliate tracking cookies to attribute a later purchase or other qualifying action to Expat Holland. If you choose Decline, we pass Awin a rejection signal on supported tracking links. Awin states that, in that case, it does not set its tracking cookie or pass its click identifier to the advertiser for that journey.

A small number of Awin links use shortened tracking URLs. Where a rejection signal cannot be relied on for those links, Expat Holland sends visitors who declined tracking to the provider's direct non-affiliate page instead.

4. Other Affiliate Networks

Expat Holland also uses other affiliate networks and merchant referral systems. Depending on the network and destination site, attribution technologies may be used after you follow a partner link. Their own privacy and cookie policies apply once you leave Expat Holland.

Relevant commercial pages identify that partner links may earn us a commission. Our affiliate relationships do not change the price you pay.

5. Changing Your Choice

You can reset your Expat Holland tracking preference by clearing cookies and local storage for expatholland.com. The consent banner will then appear again so you can choose a new preference.

6. Third-Party Websites

When you follow an external provider link, that provider may process data under its own privacy and cookie policies. We recommend reviewing those policies before creating an account or entering personal information.
