While your foreign SIM card might offer free EU roaming, you will specifically need a Dutch (+31) phone number for your daily life in the Netherlands. It is a strict requirement for:
- DigiD Registration: The government's digital identity system requires SMS verification to a Dutch number.
- Banking: Dutch banks send verification codes to local numbers when setting up your account.
